MOVIES: Special Screenings — Halloween benefit at Tropicana Cinemas
October 27, 2009 - 11:14 am
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" isn't the only Halloween feature at the Tropicana Cinemas Saturday night.
Local filmmaker Ron Atkins is back with "Mutilation Mile," a fact-based, exploitation-style account of two vengeful brothers on a blood-soaked killing spree. The movie will screen at 10 p.m. Saturday at Tropicana Cinemas, 3330 E. Tropicana Ave. Due to extreme content, no one under 17 will be admitted.
Tickets are $5, but the screening will double as a donation drive for homeless veterans; anyone who brings two canned good items will receive a $2 discount on a ticket to the movie. Atkins will join executive producer Rebecca Bruns, actors Daniel McCabe and Lawrence Bucher in the theater parking lot to accept donations of canned goods and clothing in good condition. Anthony Cellis, director of Housing for Homeless Veterans, will be in the theater parking lot with the group's donation truck.
More information on the movie is available at the "Mutilation Mile" Web site, www.mutilationmile.com. For information on Housing for Homeless Veterans, e-mail Cellis at anthonyHHV@hotmail.com.
