The Nevada Association of Realtors named Rob Wigton its 2008 president at the annual Installation of Officers and Awards Ceremony held Sept. 28 at the Montbleu Resort and Casino in South Lake Tahoe.
In his acceptance speech, Wigton announced that the 2008 theme for NVAR will be People Helping People, a reflection of the association's mission of helping Realtors, home buyers and sellers work together to realize the American dream of home ownership.
Rounding out the 2008 NVAR leadership team will be Devin Reiss of Las Vegas, president-elect; Linda Rheinberger of Las Vegas, treasurer; and Myrna Kingham of Las Vegas, past-president.
Wigton, a resident of Gardnerville, has worked in the real estate industry for 12 years. In 1995, he began his career with Century 21 Clark Properties. Wigton bought an ownership interest in the business in 1998.
In 2000, Wigton, along with his business partners at Clark Properties, Patty Clark and Shele Pandl, opened a 18,000-square-foot Real Estate Mall, which put all services necessary in real estate under one roof, including sales, property management, lending and title and home insurance.
This innovative real estate center has streamlined and expedited the home sales process for buyers and sellers across the Carson Valley.
A St. Cloud, Minn. native, Wigton comes from a journalism background. He was a weekend news anchor and morning show radio host in Fargo, N.D. He earned a graduate degree in journalism and communication from the North Dakota State University in Fargo.
In his free time, Wigton enjoys traveling with his wife, Kari Begovich, and their three sons, Kirby, Shane and Jeff.
Reiss, the NVAR's president-elect for the coming year, will take over as president of the organization in 2009. Reiss is currently president of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.
The NVAR is a professional trade association with more than 20,000 members. NVAR is committed to protecting, promoting and preserving communities throughout the Silver State.
