One obscene budget defeat for Harry Reid, one giant step for American taxpayers
December 17, 2010 - 10:03 am
There's no other way to see the budget defeat of Harry Reid's obscene spending bill yesterday in the Senate other than as a big win for American taxpayers.
Reid, President Obama and Democrats -- their power waning as taxpayers wake up to the fiscal danger they escalate -- tried one last time to pass a $1.2 trillion dollar spending bill. At first, it looked like they were going to make it happen. But thankfully, some Republicans pulled support and the mess failed.
I invite you to read this report from the Wall Street Journal for the proper perspective on what just happened. The report rightly says: "This week Democrats unveiled a $1.2 trillion omnibus, legislation as pure an insult to the electorate as it gets. It was a 1,924-page monstrosity that nobody had time to read. It took 11 spending bills that Democrats couldn't be bothered to pass individually and crammed them into one oozing ball of pork and bad policy, going beyond even the obscene budget of 2010."
And remember, when Harry Reid fails, it's almost always a good thing.
