Pardee grows green program
April 21, 2012 - 1:04 am
For Earth Day 2012, Pardee Homes will be busy doing what it's been doing for a long time: building award-winning greener homes and more sustainable communities in Nevada and California. For Pardee Homes, Earth Day truly is every day, and has been for more than 14 years.
"Pardee Homes is proud to be part of the global story of environmental awareness symbolized by Earth Day," said Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing for Pardee Homes. "As more people join the effort, and as more green commitments are made or expanded, it's a story that builds incrementally - very much like the green programs at Pardee Homes."
In Southern Nevada, Pardee has opened three LivingSmart Homes neighborhoods since January in three distinct master-planned communities - Mountain's Edge, Providence and Eldorado.
Pardee's LivingSmart brand is a program with standard and optional measures that boost energy efficiency, save water, improve indoor air quality and encourage material conservation and the use of recycled or sustainable resources in new homes, Mason said.
LivingSmart provides more than 30 Earth-friendly standard and optional systems and features for new-home buyers, and it applies to every newly designed home the company offers.
The builder's "Earth days" began modestly, with a couple of new home design lines that delivered exceptional, above-code energy efficiencies, which in turn translated into measurable cost savings for the homebuyer, Mason said.
As these homes came to market in Las Vegas in 1998, the company was already moving to do more, working with green-build experts, architects and product suppliers to grow its green program.
"For all price points, our goal is smarter, greener homes that make a comfortable and stylish quality statement," Mason said. "From this foundation, we tailor green standards and options to fit the home's design, location and buyers, and then show our buyers that they can trust the green claims, via independent inspections.
"Greener homes are high-performance, economical to operate and with lower maintenance," she said. "When you put such homes in communities that also offer quality schools, recreation, shopping, employment and transit, you have a more sustainable way to live. ..."
LivingSmart Homes Eldorado Ridge is located in the master-planned Eldorado community in North Las Vegas near Clayton Street and Deer Springs Road.
LivingSmart Homes Providence is in the Providence master-planned community in northwest Las Vegas off Shaumber Road and Centennial Parkway.
Both feature four floor plans that range from 1,850 to 2,986 square feet.
The one- and two-story plans include such features as great rooms, bonus rooms, as many as seven bedrooms and an outdoor room option. Prices start from the low $200,000s.
LivingSmart Homes Mountain's Edge is a collection of three floor plans that range from 1,852 to 2,432 square feet. It is located off of Buffalo and Cactus drives in Mountain's Edge, a master-planned community in the southwest portion of the Las Vegas Valley. Prices start from the $180,000s.
Pardee includes such items as slab-granite kitchen countertops, radiant-roof barrier, stainless steel appliances and birch cabinets as standard features at all of its LivingSmart Homes neighborhoods.
