Planet Hyundai gets woman driving again after accident
Native Las Vegan Karen Byrd is the owner of a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata purchased through the Members Auto Buying Service at Clark County Credit Union, which works with various dealerships including Planet Hyundai Sahara.
Byrd was involved in an accident in August that totaled her 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. After that, she let the team at the credit union and Planet Hyundai, 7150 W. Sahara Ave., help her find her new vehicle.
"I can sell any car, new or used, through here, and Karen wanted a Hyundai. So we got her a Sonata from the Planet dealership," said Dan Edelman, who is an auto sales concierge with the credit union. "It was one conversation to find what she wanted and we had her driving away in her new car about a day later."
Edelman said he helps customers buy Hyundai vehicles as often as five times a month .
"I have a very good working relationship with Tony Fisher at Planet Hyundai. He is very professional, knows his product and he's very easy to deal with. We feel comfortable going to Planet Hyundai," he said.
Edelman praised Hyundai for its quality and pricing.
"In the last four years, Hyundai has turned into mainstream top quality, best-designed, finest-looking car on the market, " he said. "In addition, Hyundai has the quality and the warranty to back up the looks."
Byrd is very happy with her new vehicle.
"I liked the style and how smoothly the car drove. It's a very pretty car and I'm delighted with it," she said.
She said she also appreciates the gasoline mileage, which is between 25 to 35 mpg, as well as the warranty: 10 years or 100,000 miles for the engine, and bumper-to-bumper coverage for five years or 60,000 miles.
"It has plenty of power," she said. "There's definitely no problem at all with the power the car has, that's for sure.
"I'm very pleased with everything. When you're in an accident, it's a very traumatic ordeal anyway. So the quicker you get back on your feet, the better."
Byrd also advises all vehicles buyers to buy gap insurance, which covers the difference between a vehicle's actual cash value and the balance owed, especially considering how beneficial the coverage was for her when her vehicle was totaled.
"It's worth every penny. I bought it for my Pontiac and I bought it for my new Hyundai. I wouldn't be without it."
