Planet Hyundai sales consultants reach new level

Planet Hyundai Internet specialists Bob Stewart and Tony Fisher utilized a teamwork effort that has resulted in record sales at the dealership located at 7150 W. Sahara Ave. They recently received the Hyundai Bronze Award for achieving commendable results.

Stewart and Fisher each had to sell more than 150 new vehicles in a 12-month period in 2010. They were named among the top Hyundai sales consultants in the Western Region, which includes Nevada, Utah and Arizona.

The duo attracted plaudits from dealership co-owner Ron Coury.

"The car business requires an incredible level of dedication and these two gentlemen exemplify what it takes to get the job done," Coury said. "This is an industry that requires long hours of work, as it relates to product knowledge, people skills and customer service, and we're happy that they are part of the Planet Hyundai team.

"In fact, if a seminar was ever delivered on what it takes to be a successful automobile sales consultant, the two of them undoubtedly represent the business very well. They are first-rate sales consultants and their extensive client lists are proof that they're among the top of their field."

Interestingly, both Fisher and Stewart entered the car business after working for years in other industries.

Fisher, 44, worked as a truck driver in Southern California before jumping into the car business about 10 years ago. Stewart, 54, is a former land surveyor, who went into car sales when the development business went into a tailspin several years ago.

"Hyundai has given us a rock-solid product to sell," said the soft-spoken Fisher, who, in 2006, was featured in the nationally acclaimed Automotive News before being named top Hyundai sales consultant in the nation a year later with 469 new car sales and 100 preowned transactions.

Fisher added, "We are very fortunate to be working for a wonderful company like Planet Hyundai that treats us well and provides the ability to sell the best cars in America. This is a win-win combination for everyone involved, particularly our customers. We are here now to take our Internet department to even higher levels."

Fisher said nearly every one of his transactions has come off the Internet.

"Customers love purchasing a car off the Internet," Fisher said. "This is truly no-pressure sales and a new age of buying cars. As Internet specialists, we cannot afford to let our guard down because customers will go elsewhere if we're not careful."

Stewart's outgoing personality has become highly recognized in the car business. His expertise of handling transactions was exemplified by a recent sale in which he sold 15 Hyundai Sonatas to Desert Cab in Las Vegas.

"I love the car business," said Stewart, a native of New Jersey. "It's definitely a tough industry that changes all of the time, but I love every day of it. There is no greater feeling than the one knowing that you have been able to fulfill the needs and wants of a customer with a car as impressive as a Hyundai."

The Planet Hyundai Internet department also receives invaluable help from Christy Shreve and Iliana Vasquez.

"We handle their follow-up calls for them and make sure their leads don't get away," said Vasquez, a native of Los Angeles who has lived in Las Vegas 10 years. "I have been in the car business for six years, and I have never seen anyone work so hard."

Shreve added that the Internet department never lets up.

"We take our work home with us many nights," said Shreve, a native of Owensboro, Ky., who has lived in Las Vegas since September. "We love being a part of such a great team."
