Planet Hyundai sales consultants team up

In the always-hectic car business, it's vital that employees maintain communications with past, current and future customers, two of Planet Hyundai Sahara's top sales consultants said.

Tony Fisher and Terry Mills, who have more than 25 years in the car business between them, have combined forces to ensure that their customers can reach either or both of them at all times.

"Competition for the car deal is absolutely intense right now," Fisher said . "With the Internet, people can shop multiple stores in many cities before deciding where to make their purchase and we need to be cognizant of the needs and wants of our customers."

Fisher added that success in the car business also dictates that sales consultants discipline themselves with adequate rest considering the long hours that are inherent in this industry - even more reason to participate in a team format with a trusted friend and co-worker.

Fisher said he expected that he and Mills will together generate about 40 car sales in a month's time.

"That's a lot of car deals between us," Fisher said. "However, very vital to the business is remembering to call our customers long after the car deal has been completed. On the surface, the car business looks easy, but in order to be successful, you must also watch after your customers ."

Equally important is that sales consultants must continually read about their product and models, he said.

"Today's car buyers are astute. ... They come to us knowing about the car their looking for - and they're usually very familiar with trade-in values, warranties, gas mileage and the rest," he said.

Mills agrees that teamwork in the car business is essential, primarily because it ensures that the customers receive the utmost in service.

"Our Customer Service Index is vital to our industry, and it's our customers that provide the ratings," Mills said . "You never know when the customer is going to reach out to you - and you must be ready to assist no matter what the issue may be. No two days are the same in the car business and you need to be ready."
