Plug the damn border, Mr. President

Complete Las Vegans will know that when I say "plug the damn border" I'm spoofing the president who allegedly told aids one week into the BP oil spill to "plug the damn hole". Isn't it weird that that didn't happen? Guess just barking at an aid -- and doing nothing else -- doesn't actually stop an ecological disaster of epic proportions. But the president means well, doesn't he?

But enough about our all bark and no action president on natural disasters. Let's talk Mexican border security.

I thought it would be worth pointing out that the AP is reporting today that one of the U.S. House members in Arizona is telling the press that the president is going to send 1,200 National Guard troops to the Arizona border.

It's an interesting development in that the president isn't making the announcement, it's a no-name House member (who just happens to be a Democrat). When the AP asked the governor of Arizona (a Republican) about it, the governor's office said they had not been informed of the president's intentions and therefore had no comment.

The security of our border is a big deal. Why would the president play politics with it?

I'll tell you why. Because besides not really caring about border security, he's petty.
