Poll: Pelosi up, Reid still down following Dems’ health care victory
March 29, 2010 - 10:40 am
Unlike House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Harry Reid failed to gain any public opinion boost after Democratic leaders got the health care reform bill passed earlier this month, according to new polling by The Washington Post.
The Post reported this morning that Pelosi "may have reaped some benefit" from the bill's passage.
"Although her overall rating is stable, the survey finds the speaker gained in strong support among Democrats, liberals and those who support the reform package," the paper reported, based on a national sample of 1,000 people contacted March 23-26.
No such bump for Reid, the Senate majority leader, the paper reported. In fact, his approval numbers went down.
"Reid's overall approval rating has ticked downward, from 35 percent in January to 29 percent now, and among Democrats, it has dipped from 57 percent to 45 percent," the paper reported.
The sampling error was plus or minus three percentage points.
