Reid, Angle ad wars heat up
U.S. Sen. Harry Reid and his GOP opponent Sharron Angle both released new ads on Tuesday as their TV war heats up.
Both commercials end with tag lines that deliver the two competing campaigns' main messages.
"Sharron Angle's just too extreme," ends the Reid ad, which slams Angle for calling a $20 billion BP clean-up fund for the massive Gulf oil spill a "slush fund."
"Harry Reid, the only thing he's delivered for Nevada is hardship," ends the Angle ad, which blames Reid for the state's record home foreclosure rate and falling house prices.
Nevada voters and TV viewers have been hearing similar critical messages from both candidates for weeks now three months ahead of Election Day.
Reid has been on the air with attack ads since right after Angle won the GOP primary on June 8. Angle finally responded in mid-July and has put out at least three ads so far.
Angle is blaming the Democratic incumbent for Nevada's deep economic problems and joblessness. And Reid is painting the staunch conservative Tea Party favorite as outside the mainstream, partly beause she wants to trim federal government by closing agencies such as the Energy Department and the Environmental Protection Agency.
