Reid on May jobless numbers: ‘Economy headed in right direction, don’t take eye off the ball;

In a statement this morning, Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., focused on the good news in reports that Nevada's jobless rate fell to 12.1 percent in May, while unemployment in the Las Vegas increased to 12.4 percent.

"This is the fifth straight month that unemployment has decreased in Nevada and a sign that our economy is headed in the right direction.  However, with so many Nevadans still looking for work, we cannot afford to take our eye off the ball or miss a single opportunity to create good paying jobs that can't be shipped overseas.   That's why I've brought the fourth job creation bill of the year before the Senate and will continue using every tool at my disposal to put Nevadans back to work.  While these are difficult times, Nevadans have faced down challenges before and proven that if we work together we can ensure that every Nevadan who wants to work has that opportunity."
