Reid set to speak at labor rally

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is schedule to speak Thursday afternoon at the “Celebration of Nevada Workers” rally downtown.

I didn’t say he was speaking to the Review-Journal, necessarily, but he is speaking.

Look for this rally to not only celebrate Labor Day imagery, but also serve as a show of solidarity by organized labor in Southern Nevada. Reid and other scheduled speakers – the list is below – will no doubt take time not only to extol the virtues of the working class, but remind all present of the importance of some of the big-ticket items now being considered in Washington.

Speakers will include Reid, Mayor Oscar Goodman, Danny Thompson of the AFL-CIO, John Christiansen of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Kathleen Boutin of the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, and Tom Wait of Boys Town.

The program begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Helldorado Rodeo grounds at 6th Street and Mesquite Avenue.
