Reid to WP: Energy bill in the works

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., tells the Washington Post today that he hopes to put the Senate to work right away on new energy legislation.

Reid wants to pass an energy bill within weeks that includes a national renewable portfolio standard and provisions to improve the electricity grid, he told the Post.

"We will continue to focus attention on something that's vitally important to the safety and national security of this country, which is dependence on foreign oil," Reid said.
