SHOOTING STARS: European ‘Bachelor’ brings a French accent to Las Vegas
November 30, 2009 - 2:00 am
Some people consider Paris the city of romance.
But Las Vegas makes its claim in “L’Aventurier de l’amour” — French TV’s “Bachelor” equivalent.
The eight-episode series visited Glitter City last week, as French celebrity Moundir (pictured, who previously competed on a French “Survivor”-style show, “Koh Lanta”) and six potential significant others did the town. (The show began production with 14 hopefuls trying to catch Moundir’s eye — and heart.)
Primary filming took place at the Palms, according to Las Vegas-based location manager Kim Houser-Amaral; Simon restaurant and bar at Palms Place provided a luncheon locale. On the Strip, Planet Hollywood’s Koi and the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse served as additional filming locales.
In addition, members of the Rio’s Chippendale’s troupe made a cameo appearance in the episode, which is expected to air in France in January following filming in Las Vegas, New York and Miami Beach.
Back in action: Following Thanksgiving holiday breaks, a pair of ongoing TV projects return to production this week.
CBS’ weekday “Let’s Make a Deal” revival starts up again at the Tropicana Pavilion Thursday through Sunday, with Wayne Brady hosting costumed contestants hoping to strike it rich. Audience call times are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. For free tickets, call the Trop at (800) 706-8767 or go online to www.cbs.com/daytime/lets_make_a_deal and click on “Online Ticketing.” And History Channel’s “Pawn Stars” also resumes production this week at Gold & Silver Pawn.
Quick hits: A commercial focusing on Italy’s sporty Lancia sedan is expected to shoot at downtown’s Fremont Street Experience and along the Strip. Australia’s science series “Catalyst” also is expected downtown this week, as is a celebrity poker tournament at Binion’s — a benefit for the Vladimir Gorsky Foundation, which honors the late pop artist — scheduled to air next spring on Fox Sports Southwest’s cable channel. And look for regional, national and international news crews in town this week to cover CityCenter’s scheduled unveiling of its Vdara and Mandarin Oriental hotels and Crystals retail and dining area.
