Soi Nguyen eliminated in 9th place

Soi Nguyen of Santa Ana, Calif., was eliminated in 9th place at the World Series of Poker’s Main Event, earning $811,823.

Nguyen, who entered the day in 8th place, was knocked out of the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em World Championship event at the Rio by Joseph Senti of St. Louis Park, Minn.

Nguyen, who has only been playing poker for two years and considers himself an amateur, wagered his last 7.6 million in chips with ace-king. Senti called with a pair of queens.

Senti’s third queen came on the flop.

After more than 90 minutes of play, the chip counts for the eight remaining players were:
