China dance troupe: China National Song & Dance Troupe is set to perform “National Beauty” at 7:30 p.m. April 12 at the Orleans Showroom, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave. The show is a dance poem inspired by white-and-blue porcelain, bamboo painting, the art of calligraphy, tea ceremony, and traditional Chinese medicine. New public art installation: Ward 1 City Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian is set to dedicate a new public art installation at 1:30 p.m. April 7 at the Charleston Heights Art Center, 800 S. Brush St. Artist Denise R. Duarte’s “Rhythm and Hues” is a mosaic tile mural that was inspired by the center’s history as a multicultural venue. It is located outside the center near the front entrance and is made up of handmade ceramic tiles from stoneware clay.

Sports banquet: The Jewish Community Center’s first sports banquet is planned for 6:30 p.m. April 7 in the Hardwood Suite at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road, to honor volunteers and support youth group sports. It features a 13.1-mile course that begins and ends at Downtown Summerlin and includes a tour of several Summerlin villages and a chip-timed run/walk. Top male and female finishers in varying age groups will be recognized; all participants will receive medals and T-shirts. A portion of the proceeds benefits the nonprofit Girls on the Run.
