Make a Difference Day planned
Saturday at good samaritan lutheran

Make a Difference Day is set from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, 8425 W. Windmill Lane. The church plans to host a "Dress a Girl Around the World Sew-a-Thon" to create dresses and washcloths to include in Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.

Lions Club is looking for new members

The Summerlin Lions Club is seeking new members, 18 or older, to help with projects to serve the community with vision and foot screenings, student programs and senior projects. Meet the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Desert Breeze Community Center, 8275 Spring Mountain Road. Smiles for Survivors Foundation
schedules fundraising event

Smiles for Survivors Foundation has scheduled its inaugural Blow Out Breast Cancer fundraising event from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Square Colour Salon + Spa, 1225 S. Fort Apache Road, Suite 160. The event includes salon treatments, food, champagne, live music and a silent auction.

Smiles for Survivors is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing necessary dental care for breast cancer patients and survivors. Packages are available, and service prices vary. Appointments are recommended. To make an appointment, call 255-7050 or email info@smilesforsurvivors.org.

Town Hall meeting set

The Clark County Building Department has scheduled a town hall meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Clark County Building Department presentation room, 4701 W. Russell Road, to discuss ePermits, solar photovoltaic systems and updates on codes. Residents are invited to attend to discuss items or issues of their own. Hospice care facility seeking volunteers

Solari Hospice Care, 5530 S. Jones Blvd., is seeking volunteers to serve in a variety of capacities, providing companionship to patients, sharing favorite hobbies, doing light chores, running errands and offering respite to family caregivers. Volunteers are also needed to assist with clerical duties at the inpatient facility.

A fundraiser for Baby's Bounty has been scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Plant Pusher, 7770 Dean Martin Drive. Nonprofit Baby's Bounty provides essential items to babies in need. Reiki healing circle planned
at funeral services location

Reiki Masters, the Rev. Peggy Ashman and the Rev. Karen Jackson have scheduled a Reiki healing circle at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 and Dec. 7 at Kraft and Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 204. The circle is intended to help those who have experienced a loss and desire some gentle assistance in moving through the stages of grief. This relaxation technique is intended to be calming and help relieve the body of emotional distress and sorrow.

United Way women's leadership council set to host suit drive

United Way of Southern Nevada's Women's Leadership Council has scheduled its annual suit drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at NV Energy, 6226 W. Sahara Ave. The organization is collecting new and gently used women's business apparel, including suits, handbags, shoes, belts and more to assist those in need. Items collected benefit Safe Nest, S.A.F.E. House, The Shade Tree and Goodwill of Southern Nevada Career Connections, Help of Southern Nevada, HopeLink and W.O.R.C.

TRAVEL CLUB TO MEET AT TAP HOUSE

The Las Vegas Single Social and Travel Club for Mature Adults invites prospective members to its meetings, which are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Tap House, 5589 W. Charleston Blvd.

The meet-and-greet portion is set to start at 6 p.m. Meeting discussions focus on day trips, local events, in-state and out-of-state traveling, cruises and international traveling. A guest speaker frequently is featured. The meeting closes at about 7:30 p.m., and appetizers are served as the group mingles.
