Summerlin Celebrates Fourth of July

More than 40,000 valley residents started their Independence Day celebration at the 16th annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade.

The crowd watched more than 60 entries including traditional floats, giant helium balloons, bands, performing groups and children's favorite storybook characters.

Summerlin and The Howard Hughes Corp. were title sponsors of the parade. Securitas was the elite sponsor.

Other major sponsors included Cox Communications, Las Vegas Review-Journal/View Community Newspapers, Children's Medical Center at Summerlin Hospital, Clear Channel, Las Vegas Color Graphics and Friendly Ford.

The annual parade is coordinated by The Summerlin Council, the nonprofit arm of the Summerlin Community Association.
