SUMMERLIN’S FOURTH OF JULY PARADE CELEBRATES 20 YEARS

Summerlin observed July Fourth in grand style with its annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade. Celebrating 20 years with a special birthday cake float, the parade included a 150th anniversary float led by Gov. Brian Sandoval in recognition of Nevada’s yearlong sesquicentennial jubilee. Other parade participants included the Palo Verde High School marching band, active and veteran military personnel, the Desert Angels choir, and religious and community groups such as the Danza Del Carrizo Native American performance group, and the Philippine American Association of Summerlin. In total, the parade had more than 70 floats, performance groups, giant helium balloons and specialized vehicles with 2,500 participants and approximately 35,000 people lining the streets in The Trails village.
