Senior Pro Rodeo Finals scheduled Wednesday through Saturday

Contestants from the United States and Canada are set to compete for cash and prizes during the National Senior Pro Rodeo Finals scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at Horseman's Park, 5800 E. Ethel M to issue tickets to annual cactus-lighting ceremony

Starting Thursday, members of the public can get tickets for Ethel M's annual cactus-lighting event on Nov. 13. A limited number of tickets will be available to those who bring one new, unwrapped toy to the factory at 2 Cactus Garden Drive. For each toy, people can receive a four-pack of tickets to the event, with a limit of eight tickets per family. Toys will be donated to the annual KLUC Toy Drive.

The lighting event is expected to feature entertainers George Wallace, Michael Grimm and Zowie Bowie. Photos with Santa Claus, face painting, balloon artists, raffles and chocolate samples also are planned. All guests also can receive 3-D glasses to view special effects at the lighting.

The holiday cactus garden is scheduled to be open from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 14 to Jan. 1. For more information, visit ethelm.com.

Free health fair slated for past and present federal government employees

A free health fair for current and retired federal government employees and their spouses or survivors has been scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 9 in the second-floor ballroom at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive. The event is sponsored by the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Representatives from the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, including Blue Cross-Blue Shield, GEHA, Mail Handlers, United Healthcare and the Health Plan of Nevada are expected to attend and answer questions about 2013 health benefits.
