n Roy Zimmerman is set to perform humorous folk songs with a decidedly liberal political viewpoint Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas, 3616 E. Lake Mead Blvd. The event includes a barbecue dinner at

Worth a Drive

n The Springs Preserve Haunted Harvest, featuring a haunted house, trick-or-treat stations live entertainment and a petting zoo, is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12 and free for children 4 or younger. Visit springspreserve.org.

n The Halloween Parade, featuring art cars, music, fire performances, a costume contest, giant puppets and mobile artwork, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 31 beginning on Garces Avenue and Fourth Street (north of Charleston Boulevard) and ending on Third Street between Ogden and Stewart avenues. The best viewing points are north or south of Fremont Street on Fourth Street.

n Dancers are invited to come dressed in pink or purple to support cancer and breast cancer awareness at a country and hip-hop line dance workshop scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Cambridge Recreation Center, 3930 Cambridge St. The cost is $5, and participants can check in and snack on refreshments beginning at 8:15 a.m. Pink lids from General Mills and Yoplait foods will be collected. Call 702-455-7169 or visit clarkcountynv.gov.

n The Jewish Repertory Theatre of Nevada is scheduled to host an all-female version of the "The Odd Couple" at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, 361 Symphony Park Ave. Tickets start at $28. Call 702-749-2000.

n Wings over the Springs is back at the Springs Preserve with owls, falcons, hawks and ravens flying overhead in two live shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekends and select school holidays through Feb. 24. New to the show are the Harris hawk, peregrine falcon, yellow vulture, African augur buzzard, common buzzard and a pair of yellow-billed black kites native to Southern Africa and the Middle East. The two female kites are said to be the only members of this species in the U.S. The flight shows are free with Springs Preserve membership or paid admission. For $10, guests can upgrade to a backstage pass that allows direct interaction with the birds after the show. The Springs Preserve plans its annual Dia de Muertos Day of the Dead celebration from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12 and free for children 4 or younger. Museum members get in for half price. Visit springspreseve.org.

n Kids can spend some time hanging out in the trees at the touring "Tree House: Look Who's Living in the Trees" exhibit scheduled to be on display through Jan. 14 on the second floor of the Lied Discovery Children's Museum, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North. The exhibit includes a tree house kids can explore, 3-D images of animals living in trees, an animal dance floor where kids can try to identify animal sounds and a computer forest game where children can harvest trees without harming wildlife. The museum also plans to showcase the exhibit "Torn From Home: My Life as a Refugee" through Dec. 16. The exhibit features photographs and interactive elements depicting refugee families from Colombia, Afghanistan, Republic of Congo and more. Visit ldcm.org.
