Tonight (Thursday) in Vegas: Me, Nude Girls, Twitter Festival, Sports Illustrated Models
February 12, 2009 - 9:35 am
[] I'm the quizmaster, again, hosting the free pub quiz about 8 p.m. Thursday at PT's, on Sunset Road east of Paradise Road. Winners of most rounds get free pitchers of beer. First-, second- and third-place teams get $100, $50 and $25 bar tabs. See you there.
[] The nude-ish revue “X” Burlesque tonight celebrates two years at the Flamingo with new songs and confirmed attendance by: George Wallace, Vinnie Favorito, Mosaic, Nathan Burton, Zowie Bowie, some Chippendales, comedians Mike Allen and Rob Sherwood, plus Dana Strum and Mike Ager of Slaughter, classic porn star Randy West, Sin City Sinners, BMX athlete Ricardo Laguna, guitarist Jeff Blando (he played for Slaughter and Vince Neil), Cathouse’s Sunset Thomas, singer Brian Evans, ‘America’s Got Talent’ contestant Bryan Cheatham and Vegas own’ Alicia Jacobs. They walk a carpet at 9:15 or so.
[] I wrote Tuesday about Steel Panther’s extensive list of celebrity stage guests, from Avril Lavigne to Pink, but I neglected to mention when and where you can see them in Vegas, exactly. They play free shows at 11 p.m. Fridays at Green Valley Ranch and 10 p.m. Saturdays at Aliante Station.
[] Also tonight, “Twestival” will get Twittered at The Beatles REVOLUTION Lounge, 7-10 p.m. If you Twitter, this is the Twitter Festival to raise money for a charity called “charity: water,” which tries to get safe drinking water to needy people in developing countries. But like all charity events in this town, people will be going to social network. As it happens, Twitter is a social networking tool. So it’s a social networking opportunity for social networkers. Very meta.
[] If you’ve been to Town Square lately, you’ve seen the mad bargains going on, thanks to the stupid recession. The giant outdoor mall thing gets a new spa today called ElevenSpa, with a salon helmed by hairstylist Ken Paves.
[] And the new Sports Illustrated models are here, along with John Legend. At Lax at Luxor tonight, starting at 9 p.m., the women start strolling a red carpet. I’ll just give you the whole list of names the club’s giving me: “Ariel Meredith, Bar Refaeli, Brooklyn Decker, Cintia Dicker, Damaris Lewis, Daniella Sarahyba, Esti Ginzburg, Hilary Rhoda, Irina Shayk, Jarah Mariano, Jessica Gomes, Jessica Hart, Jessica White, Julie Henderson, Kim Cloutier, Lucia Dvorska, Melissa Haro and Tori Praver will celebrate with six-time Grammy Award winner John Legend, DJ Sky Nellor, Sports Illustrated Group President Mark Ford, Sports Illustrated Group Editor Terry McDonell, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editor Diane Smith, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority President and CEO Rossi Ralenkotter, and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Senior Vice President of Marketing Terry Jicinsky.”
