Trash Mountain: A scene from an endless cleanup

Local videographer Thomas Curtis recently captured part of the constant cleanup that takes place at Mt. Charleston throughout the year (link below).

The mountain gets hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Unfortunately, too often it seems that none of those tourists has ever mastered the use of a garbage can.

On the mountain, Patty Conant is the mistress of the refuse. She dedicates many hours each week to cleaning up the roadsides in Kyle and Lee canyons. Without Conant and her volunteers, the mountain would be lost under a mountain of garbage.
