Tucson shooting: Sez who? Sez you!
January 12, 2011 - 11:06 am
It’s good to see we’re all learning to reason together. In this edition of Sez Who? Sez You!, we calmly discuss the recent tragedy in Tucson, where six persons were murdered and another 14 wounded.
Was the mass killing politically motivated? Are our gun laws too lax? I dared raised the subjects in a recent column.
Here are a few of your raw, unedited responses.
Al Dutt of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Las Vegas: “do you really think a 22 year old kid gives a damn about the health care law being passed? i wondered how long it was going to take you to get to the "hate -fueled conservative politics in the era of anti-immigration hysteria and the tea party movement." only took you 5 paragraphs. this pima county sheriff, who got his 15 minutes of fame, didn't give any information to the viewers he spewed his leftist garbage instead. [ i suspect that the two of you have the same jackass tatooed on your asses] by the way, had any dui's lately? wife won't give you the car keys will she. . i keep wondering why your articles aren't in that section of the journal that i keep in my bathroom for back up john paper. i can safely tell you one fact!!!!! had i have been among the people listening to the congresswoman, and since arizona allows any one to carry a weapon, i would have had my weapon yes he proberly would have gotten two or three shots off but i would have gotten a couple rounds into him before he got the fourth one off. [. i would have killed him with no remorse] by the way, i was wondering when you were going to bring angle into your ranting and raving article. you have made my day there she is!!!. just another liberal article written by another liberal writer with a 50 iq. remember john boy, if you drink, don't drive. i forgot, your wife won't give you the car keys!!!!!! “
Charles Mezza writes, “This shooting had nothing to do with the Tea Party or Gun Laws. This was a crazy 22 yr old with all over the map views and prayed to a skull. If you check his Youtube page you will see him burning the American flag with a mask and wearing a garbage bag. As far as Sheriff Dupnik he is contaminating the case by giving a free excuse to the killers attorneys with all his baseless and without facts attacks. This Sheriff needs to stick to doing his job and gathering all the evidence to this case, if he wants to give his political opinions then he should quit and go work at a news station. “
Las Vegas Harley Rider says, “I was a 30 year resident of Las Vegas. I saw the change-watched friends laid off of jobs while illegals were hired-saw my daughter denied special ed because classes were full of illegals learning english-saw my son's band class converted to mariachi-saw the house next to mine rented by an illegal who turned it into an auto repair shop. I left-Las Vegas is not about about democracy-it's about money-busing the casino employees to vote for Reid proved that, but I'm sure you're ok with the perversion of the laws of this country as long as it suits your liberal agenda. What do you expect when your government puts aside the will of the majority, violates citizen's rights, & illegally prevents any recourse by dissenters? I'm quite sure you were applauding mexico's president as he stood on American soil denouncing our policy, as his is far worse. I do not support violence, or defend the actions of the shooter in Tuscon, nor do I think the deaths & injuries of the bystanders are justified. The truth is-the longer the majority of this country are denied their voice, the more comfortable people are going to be resorting to violence to make their voice heard. Keep telling them there's no jobs, while they see illegals doing them-keep telling them to press 1 for english-you will find the threshold, & they will find the trigger.”
Logandale’s Gene Hart: Six innocent people are killed, one a nine year old girl. Fourteen innocent are injured, a Congresswoman miraculously clings to life.
“You decry the state of politics in this country and then write a distinctly political column. Did anything positive or constructive come from your writings?
“I know you are capable of better.”
Desert Don Dupre: “If you're wondering what we'll learn from shooting it's that there are many douchebags out there w. their actions aided & abetted by media sensationalizing them. What we learn from lefties like you is you're selective in your outrage-if it was a sacred jihadist it'd be called an isolated incident & not to blame a certain group(Hassan, sharia murders,CIA gate attack, etc.Ever get the feeling that the Left was so supportive after 9/11 was that the little rascal USA was getting its come-uppance -so ,come to mama, let me cuddle you,and promise not to offend anymore by being what the USA stands for.Again ;reason for leftie angst-w. Rush et al your side has been exposed for the phonies you are:i.e. Netwk. TV news down 50% since mid 80s,FOX News w. over 50% viewership. Thanks to Bam-Bam's agenda, even more are turned off. John, make it easy on yourself-get hired by the funny papers(LV Sun)-Wow, do they pay a salary? Who cares, from each according to his ability,to each according to his needs, right?”
Steve Horner: “No surprise here that you're clueless to the cause of Tuscon. What will you name it when it docks at your port?”
Carl and Doris Bram: “you should write for the new yorjk times, youwould fit right in with those liberal wackos. I prefer Orielys and rush L views. what about the shooting at the military base, yes when muslims shoot, they are crazy with no political implications.”
Derry Nash: “Great column today which will bring you lot's of hate mail. Personally I think we have become an twitter nation. Everything we do is abbreviated including our reasoned responses. Instead of sitting down and writing a well reasoned correspondence we dash of a twitter. Instead of sitting down and considering our problems and then deciding on a reasoned and reasonable response we react to impulse without reflexion. We do what we feel at the moment instead of rationalizing our reactions and thinking things through. Instead of going from a to b to c we leap from a to z with no regard to others. We nned to rethink or priorities and get back to basics. The internet can be a wonderful thing when used properly to research and reflect on todaqys issues but it can also lead to twitter moments where we grab at someone elses beliefs and follow an short course of action that leads to tragedy. How can we expect the youth of today to learn simple basics like English, spelling and writing when we encourage a whole new language based on LOL, CUL8TR, FTF Etc. We are promoting a generations of people who can text but can't write a letter. Keep up the good work.”
