Valley residents invited to vote for favorites

Voting for the 2012 Best of Summerlin campaign is under way on www.facebook.com/summerlinlv. Valley residents are invited to participate in this interactive campaign designed to recognize some of Summerlin's most popular amenities and places.

The campaign includes 15 different categories including best dessert, best appetizer, best restaurant, best meal for less than $10, best place to take a date, best happy hour, best community event, best golf course, best place to shop, best park, best trail, best place to people watch, best architecture, best scenic spot and best Summerlin streetscape.

"In a large-scale master-planned community like Summerlin, there are literally hundreds of options that make voting for your favorites harder than it seems," said Kevin Orrock, executive vice president of master-planned communities for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "But it's all in good fun. We love and appreciate all our amenities and offerings that make Summerlin such a great place to live."

To vote, log onto Summerlin's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/summerlinlv, and click on the Best of Summerlin tab and enter your votes before Aug. 31.

Winners will be announced on Summerlin's Facebook in September. Nominations must be located in the master-planned community of Summerlin to qualify.

Anyone is eligible to vote; Summerlin residency is not required. Participants are limited to one vote per person.

Summerlin began to take shape in 1990. For the past two decades national and regional research firms have ranked it in the country's top 10 best-selling master-planned communities.

Located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley, Summerlin encompasses 22,500 acres with about 7,500 acres still remaining to accommodate future growth within the master plan.

The community is currently home to nearly 100,000 residents.

Amenities include more than 150 neighborhood and village parks, more than 150 miles of the Summerlin Trail System, 26 public and private schools, 14 houses of worship, nine golf courses, shopping centers, medical and cultural facilities and business parks.

Homes are available in a variety of styles - from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts - priced from the high $100,000s to more than $1 million. For more information on Summerlin, visit www.summerlin.com.
