Winder Farms plans elementary school book drive
September 5, 2012 - 7:10 am
Southwest-area based Winder Farms food delivery service is partnering with comedy-magician Mac King and Mac King’s Magical Literacy Tour for the second annual Delivering Magic Book Drive.
Delivering Magic is set to collect new and gently used elementary school books utilizing Winder Farms’ delivery routes, which include more than 8,000 customers throughout Las Vegas, on Sept. 4 through 18.
Clark County READS, an initiative of The Public Education Foundation, will receive the donated books on behalf of local public elementary schools.
During the weeks of Sept. 4 through 18, Winder Farms customers can put book donations in the coolers on their front porches, and the Winder Farms deliveryman will pick them up on the regularly scheduled visit. For a donation of three new or gently used books, each household will receive two free tickets to see The Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrah’s Las Vegas. There is a limit of two tickets per household.
Donors who give three or more new or gently used elementary-school books will receive two free tickets to The Mac King Comedy Magic Show at Harrah’s Las Vegas. For those donating three or more books, an entry into a grand prize drawing will be generated. Three winners are to be selected at random on Sept. 26:
--Grand prize: free Winder Farms groceries for one year (up to $25 per week); $2,500 donated to the public elementary school of their choice
--Second place: free Winder Farms groceries for six months (up to $25 per week)
--Third place: free Winder Farms groceries for three months (up to $25 per week)
