YOUR WEEKEND: Boulder Station, jazz radio station gather toys for HIV-positive kids
December 8, 2008 - 10:45 am
In conjunction with the Soulful Christmas holiday jazz show featuring Brian Culbertson, Boulder Station and radio station KOAS-FM, also known as The Oasis 105.7, will collect toys for HIV-infected children Friday, Dec. 12.
New, unwrapped toys can be donated outside the Railhead music venue at Boulder Station from 5 until 9 p.m. The concert begins at 8:15 p.m. with tickets priced from $32.50 to $48.50 plus taxes.
The toys will be delivered to the children by Aid for AIDS of Nevada, the 24-year-old organization that provides various forms of assistance to people living with HIV or AIDS in the Las Vegas area.
Those contributing toys will be entered in a raffle to win a variety of prizes, including a 2009 season pass to Boulder Station’s jazz series, an overnight stay at Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, Calif., and tickets to UNLV basketball games. The winning raffle tickets will be drawn from 7:45 to 8:15 p.m. at the Railhead.
Along with Culbertson’s instrumental jazz, the Soulful Christmas concert will feature saxophonist Mike Phillips and vocalists Amanda Maiden and Tony Maiden of Rufus.
