YOUR WEEKEND: Outdoor events offer chance to get out of the house, have fun

Residents can enjoy the spring weather during outdoor events planned for Saturday.

Spring festival
Enjoy a free family festival at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, 9200 Tule Springs Road, set for noon to 4 p.m. The city of Las Vegas will sponsor the event, which will include amusement rides, a farmers market, wagon rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, square dancing, jump houses and craft-making for children. Tour de Cure
Support the American Diabetes Foundation at the annual Tour de Cure, set to start at 7 a.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St. The cycling fundraiser features 100K, 50K and 25K routes. Registration is $15 to $25. Visit tour.diabetes.org or call 369-9995, ext. 7483.

Horse show
Horses4Heroes plans the Red White & Blue Jeans All Community Open Horse Show, scheduled for 8 a.m. at Horseman’s Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road. The show is set to focus on rail classes. Exhibitors will show their horses at a walk, trot/jog or lope/canter in age specific English and Western pleasure and walk-trot and jackpot classes. A Winning is a Pleasure clinic is set to be offered during the lunch break. Youth class fees are $5 and, adult fees are $10. The organization is raffling off a ton of hay at each of its next three horse shows. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or a book of 10 for $50.

Horses4Heroes is a nonprofit group that makes horseback riding affordable for, and accessible to, the families of the heroes in the community, including military personnel, police officers, firefighters, special needs school teachers and pediatric, critical care and hospice nurses.
