COUNCILMAN BOB BEERS TO MEET WITH RESIDENTS JUNE 26
A Cigars and Beer with Beers event is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 26 at La Casa Cigar Lounge in Tivoli Village, 302 S. Rampart Blvd.

FIREWORKS SALE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR CANDLELIGHTERS
Team Kenzie plans to host a fireworks booth in the parking lot of the Albertsons, 10140 W. Flamingo Road at Hualapai Way, to benefit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada in honor of MaKenzie Lynn Hanover, who died from brain cancer in 2011. The booth will be open June 28 through July 4, with presales available at teamkenzie.com.
PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT ON RED ROCK CANYON IMPROVEMENTS
The Bureau of Land Management Red Rock/Sloan Field Office plans to host public meetings on two infrastructure projects at 2 and 6 p.m. June 26 at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area’s Visitor Center classroom, 1000 Scenic Loop Drive.
Proposed projects on the 13-mile Scenic Loop Drive include constructing low-profile bridge crossings at both Sandstone and Red Rock wash crossings and flood warning sensors at three additional wash crossings. Proposed projects at the visitor center parking lot include making minor changes to the existing layout, repairing or replacing the pavement, reconstructing the bus loading area, re-signing and striping.
When participants enter via the fee booth at the entrance for the meetings, they should tell the attendant they are participating in the meetings, and fees will be waived.

The Large Vision Business Network Mixer plans to host its next event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 1 in the Grand Ballroom at the Suncoast, 9090 Alta Drive.
Exhibits, live entertainment, raffle drawings and the LVBNM Visionary Awards honoring local business owners are planned, along with keynote speaker James Cannon, father of actor/comedian Nick Cannon, and a book signing for Cannon’s book, “The Calling.”

The Westside Newcomers Club plans to host a coffee event for prospective members at 9:15 a.m. July 2 at Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane.
The coffee event takes place the first Wednesday of each month. A luncheon with a program is planned for the second Wednesday of each month.

The group meets the first Sunday of each month and consists mostly of people who have retired to Las Vegas. Monthly meetings start with a short business meeting, followed by a program. The group is open to all.

GOLF TOURNEY RAISES MONEY FOR KIDS
Golf 4 The Kids, a fundraising event held June 2 at Red Rock Country Club, raised more than $46,000 for two nonprofits assisting children with catastrophic diseases and inherited bleeding disorders.
This is the second golf tournament operated jointly by Cure 4 The Kids Foundation and the Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation.
Cure 4 The Kids is the fundraising arm for the Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada.
The Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation provides support, education and advocacy for children and adults with inherited bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia and Von Willebrand disease.
TICKETS ON SALE FOR SHRINERS FOR HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN OPEN
Tickets for Las Vegas’ official PGA Tour event, the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, are on sale. Part of the FedExCup regular season, the weeklong charitable tournament is set for Oct. 13-19 at TPC Summerlin, 1700 Village Center Circle.
Every ticket sold will grant access to The Hill, a 22,000-square-foot pavilion overlooking the 16th, 17th and 18th holes. Premium food options and beverages including wine and spirits will be available for purchase for ticket holders.

WALKER FURNITURE’S HELP FOR HEROES PROGRAM ACCEPTING LETTERS
Walker Furniture has unveiled a program to help provide a better quality of life for wounded U.S. military personnel and veterans in Clark County, who are in need of specialized items not generally available through the Veterans Administration.
The new program, Help for Heroes, is scheduled to run through July 1 and rely on letters from the community written on behalf of prospective recipients.
Walker Furniture will provide 10 military individuals and families with a variety of necessary items that may include lift chairs, adjustable beds, new mattresses and dining sets. Each delivery will be specific to the needs of each recipient.
Letters received will be reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel headed by Cmdr. John Rupe of the American Legion Paradise Post 149. The post commander will visit each prospective recipient to evaluate their individual needs.
