Lovelock Correctional Center inmate found dead in cell

An inmate was found dead in his cell early Tuesday afternoon in Lovelock Correctional Center, the Nevada Department of Corrections said in a statement.

The Nevada Department of Corrections officers at 11:57 a.m. found inmate Oscar Valasquez-Yanez hanging from a bedsheet tied to the upper bunk of his cell, the department said.

Medical staff began life-saving measures, which were unsuccessful. Valasquez-Yanez, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inmate Valasquez-Yanez, was committed from Clark County on Nov. 19, 2008, and was serving eight to 20 years for attempted sexual assault involving someone younger than 16.
