Prince Harry photo suggests scandal

Prince Harry may be heading for a royal rebuke after photo surfaced Tuesday that suggest he was playing nude pool with some lady friends in a Wynn Las Vegas VIP suite.

According to TMZ.com, which published the photos, Prince Harry and his pals picked up some girls at hotel bar Friday and invited them back to the suite.

The photos, if they are not photo-shopped, would rank high among royal embarrassments. The timing's not so good, with the Brits still aglow over the grand success of the London Olympics.

The fun-loving prince was involved in some good clean fun early Sunday.

He challenged Olympic gold medalist swimmer Ryan Lochte to a 3 a.m. race in the pool at XS nightclub. The prince let Lochte reportedly know he wanted to take him on after they met in a VIP section at XS, according to the London Daily Mail.

With a shirtless Prince Harry waiting in the pool, Lochte leaped in fully clothed and counted to three with his fingers while giving the prince a head start. Lochte narrowly won, but an eyewitness told the Daily Mail someone grabbed Lochte's leg as he took off in pursuit in the very short race.

Prince Harry's Sin City scandal is certain to invite comparisons to the misadventures of his uncle, Prince Andrew, who brought shame to the palace by dating soft-porn actress Koo Stark in the early 1980s.

SCOTT SCOUTED VEGAS

Director Tony Scott couldn't resist putting the Stratosphere, the tallest observation tower in the United States, into his 2005 film "Domino."

During an interview with Review-Journal film critic Carol Cling while filming "Domino" here in late 2004, Scott said he added the 1,148-foot tower as an afterthought.

He said an eight-minute BMW commercial he shot here was "a testing ground for 'Domino.' He added, "The Stratosphere was never written in the script, but it's such an icon."

Scott had the Stratosphere blown up at the end of "Domino," which starred Keira Knightley, Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken.

Law enforcement officials said Scott, 68, committed suicide Sunday by leaping off the 185-foot Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, Calif.

Scott, who filmed "Top Gun" scenes at Fallon Naval Air Station, later fell in love with some of the well-known desert scenery near Las Vegas.

He told Cling he had long wanted the Valley of Fire, Red Rock Canyon and Bonnie Springs as locations in one of his films. He said he climbed Red Rock's Velvet Canyon, loved Valley of Fire and stayed in the frontier-themed motel in Bonnie Springs.

THE PUNCH LINE

"A woman was smuggling her boyfriend into the United States from Canada. The young woman smuggled the guy in a suitcase. She's a Playboy Playmate. So that got me to thinking that these Playboy Playmates may not be as smart as we think they are." - David Letterman
