APRIL 25’S BIG GIVE TO RAISE FUNDS ONLINE
A statewide online giving initiative, Nevada’s Big Give, is slated for April 25.
Nevada’s Big Give is a day of online giving that benefits charities across the state. The initiative, launched by NevadaGIVES, is designed to bring new donors and dollars to Nevada nonprofits.
Every registered nonprofit is eligible to participate and receive donations April 25 through nvbiggive.org.
ART GALLERY SUBMISSIONS SOUGHT
The city of Las Vegas invites the submission of proposals for individual and group art exhibitions for its 2015-16 gallery season.
Exhibits are being considered for the Las Vegas City Hall Grand Gallery, 495 S. Main St., and the Charleston Heights Arts Center Gallery, 800 S. Brush St.
Applicants must submit a written exhibition outline; 15 to 20 supporting images, including identification information for each (artist name, title of artwork, medium); an artist statement and artist resume. Other suitable supporting materials may include exhibition press clippings. All visual art practices suitable for gallery installations lasting for 12 weeks will be considered.
To submit a proposal, send materials and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to city of Las Vegas Galleries, c/o Jeanne Voltura, 495 S. Main St., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
Submissions must arrive no later than 5 p.m. May 1 to be included in the screening process. All applicants can expect notification regarding their proposal by Sept. 30 via mail.

HOSPITAL TO OFFER SIBLING CLASS FOR CHILDREN
University Medical Center is set to offer a sibling class at 4:30 p.m. April 24 at the Family Resource Center, 1120 Shadow Lane.
The class aims to ease children into welcoming a new baby into their family. Children must be ages 3 to 10 to attend. The class is free and includes a T-shirt.

HEALTH LECTURE PLANNED MAY 4
The West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd., plans to host a health lecture on acid reflux, diverticulosis, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4.

The Spring Valley Library, 4280 S. Jones Blvd., is set to host three job fair events.
From 3 to 5 p.m. May 20, participants can discover print and online resources to create resumes. From 3 to 5 p.m. May 21, participants can learn the proper way to dress and act during an interview. Many businesses and organizations are scheduled to be on site from 2 to 5 p.m. May 22 to hire new employees or assist with future employment.

SPRINGS PRESERVE PLANS ANNUAL LANDSCAPING COMPETITION
The Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., plans to host the 16th annual Southern Nevada Landscape Awards competition.

MONTHLY DIVORCE WORKSHOPS PLANNED
Second Saturdays Las Vegas is set to host divorce workshops the second Saturday of each month at the Nevada Trust Company, 9130 W. Russell Road, Suite 310.

NONPROFIT SEEKS FOSTER FAMILIES FOR ABANDONED PETS
Foreclosed Upon Pets Inc., a nonprofit that rescues animals that have been abused or abandoned as a result of economic hardship, is searching for foster families for dogs and cats.
Volunteers must provide pets basic training and a safe environment. Families must also transport the animals to weekly adoptions and events and provide the organization with regular updates.

SOLARI HOSPICE SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
Solari Hospice Care, 5550 S. Jones Blvd., is looking for volunteers to aid with day-to-day operations and patient well-being.
Volunteers bring companionship to people in the final months and weeks of life, often when people find themselves cut off from the community.
They bring respite to family caregivers who are caring for dying loved ones. Volunteers sometimes share a special knowledge or hobby, such as speaking a second language or playing music. Volunteers also answer phones, assist with receptionist duties or perform light secretarial work.
