Nicole Garza, 18 months old, gets acquainted Wednesday with one of the goats at the new children’s petting zoo at the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park.
The 3-acre zoo, at 1775 N. Rancho Drive in Las Vegas, is the only year-round zoo in Nevada and has a variety of plants and animals. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, and $6 for children and senior citizens. Children under 2 are free.

Las Vegas breathed a sigh of relief when MGM Mirage rescued CityCenter from the brink of collapse a few weeks ago. But there are troubling hints that the folks who watch the Las Vegas economy think the CityCenter opening will hurt other properties.
