Company gets approval to resume mining at Comstock Lode

CARSON CITY — Officials for a company that wants to resume mining gold and silver at the site of the historic Comstock Lode in Virginia City has won approval of a necessary permit from state environmental regulators.

Kyle Canyon development plan draws fire despite revisions

Critics say the scaled-back version of an earlier plan still is too much building on nearly 1,700 acres that border the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and are a buffer between Las Vegas and the Mount Charleston area.

Las Vegas mom recalls soldier ‘who wanted to serve his whole life’
