In the United States, chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the most common blood-borne viral disease. In spite of this, many people may not be aware that they have it; an estimated 70 to 80 percent of people newly infected with HCV do not have symptoms. Of the approximately 3.2 million Americans living with the disease, an estimated 1 million are Hispanic.
