Catholic Charities needs food bank volunteers

A local nonprofit is in need of volunteers as the number of people coming into its food pantry jumped to 7,500 from 5,500 in about a month. Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada late last month improved and changed the format of the food pantry to resemble a grocery store and expanded its hours, said Leslie Carmine, spokeswoman for the nonprofit. The increase in people coming into the food pantry per month is partly due to those changes.
