Firefighters douse barbecue fire in south Las Vegas

No one was injured after a barbecue caught fire at a south valley apartment complex.

The fire was called in just before 4 a.m. Monday at the Villanova apartments, 2815 W. Ford Ave., near Las Vegas Boulevard South, according to Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan.

Buchanan said arriving firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a barbecue on a second-story balcony and extinguished the fire within 10 minutes.

The fire didn’t reach the inside of the apartment and no injuries were reported, Buchanan said. The cost of damage caused by the fire has not been estimated.
