Armed man arrested after standoff at west Las Vegas restaurant

Updated February 15, 2019 - 1:15 pm

A man armed with a knife was arrested after barricading himself inside a Denny’s restaurant early Friday morning in west Las Vegas.

Just before 1 a.m., police received reports that a man showing signs of excited delirium who was armed with a knife had barricaded himself inside a Denny’s at 7341 W. Lake Mead Blvd., near North Tenaya Way, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. William Matchko said.

The man appeared to have self-inflicted injuries and was flipping tables inside the restaurant, Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield said. Police used bullhorns to encourage him to come out, Hadfield said. When he did, he was provided medical attention and taken into custody.

No one else was injured in the incident.
