Spirit Airlines to launch Las Vegas-Atlanta service

Spirit Airlines, one of the fastest-growing domestic air carriers at McCarran International Airport, will begin nonstop service between Las Vegas and Atlanta in May.

Miramar, Fla.-based Spirit is expanding in the Atlanta market and on Tuesday announced nonstop service to nine cities.

The new Las Vegas flights will begin May 7 with a flight leaving Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 9:30 p.m., arriving at 10:45 p.m., Las Vegas time. The return trip leaves McCarran at 11:40 p.m. and arrives at 6:35 a.m. the next day.

Spirit, a deep-discount carrier that charges a low base fare with numerous optional fees, flies twin-engine Airbus A320 jets on most routes.

The airline currently is the fifth busiest carrier at McCarran with 24 daily flights.
