Future closes in with hoverboard world record — VIDEO

Hoverboards may not be as far-into-the future as you think. This video proves that we’re well on our way to being just as cool as Marty McFly.

Posted on the Guinness World Records Youtube Channel, the video shows Catalin Alexandru Duru breaking the record for the farthest journey on hoverboard.

The hoverboard is an original propeller-based design by Duru, and can be used anywhere. He just prefers water so the landings don’t hurt as much.

In order to achieve the record title, Duru was required to travel a minimum of 164 feet. He destroys the minimum and walks away a record holder with a total distance of 905 feet and 2 inches.

Now to be fair, it doesn’t look anything like the iconic super stylish hot-pink hoverboard from Back to the Future Part II & III, but with a little bit of optimism and faith you can believe that we’ll get there someday!

Think of this as that iconic first step to technological greatness. Or rather, first hover.
