Marc Ratner, Jerry Izenberg selected to International Boxing Hall of Fame

Former Nevada Athletic Commission executive director Marc Ratner and longtime sports columnist Jerry Izenberg were announced today as members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame's Class of 2016.

Ratner, a Las Vegas native, and Izenberg, who still writes for the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger and lives in Henderson, will join boxers Lupe Pintor, Hector "Macho" Camacho and Hilario Zapata in the Hall's induction ceremonies on June 12 in Canastota, N.Y.

"I'm not only humbled, I'm stunned," Ratner said. "With all these famous boxers in the Hall, it's very exciting for me."

Izenberg said: "I really appreciate it and I'm so moved by this honor. I'm absolutely flabbergasted because I really feel so many of the inductees I personally knew. Some of them were my heroes and some of them my compatriots. The fact is I'm just so grateful."

Ratner will go in as a non-participant while Izenberg will go in as an observer. Also receiving induction into the Hall were longtime fight judge Harold Lederman, boxing announcer Colonel Bob Sheridan, trainer Whitey Esneault and former boxer and adminstrator Petey Sarron.
