Search crews find wreckage of missing single-engine plane bound for Henderson
Search crews found five bodies and the wreckage of a small airplane that went missing near Bakersfield, Calif. Saturday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration said Sunday.
The single-engine Piper PA32, was found at an orchard Saturday night, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said. Information on the exact location of the crash wasn't immediately available.
The airplane was flying from San Jose, Calif. to Henderson's Executive Airport when it went off-radar about 4 p.m., about 10 miles south of Bakersfield, Gregor said.
The Review-Journal on Saturday incorrectly stated that the airplane was flying from Bakersfield to Henderson.
A National Transportation Safety Board investigator and two FAA inspectors were at the crash site Sunday afternoon, Gregor said.
The identities of the crash victims were not released on Sunday.
