A La Carte: Dining events and news for Oct. 22-28, 2015

Wine, cheese and meat event: Hexx kitchen + bar at Paris Las Vegas, 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is set to host its first monthly wine, cheese and meat event from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 22. Herbs and spices workshop: The session is set from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in room 140 at the UNLV Paradise campus. Participants can learn what herbs and spices to have in stock, how to store them and when to get rid of them. Making a personal signature blend is planned. Taste and Learn: October's event at Ferraro's Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar is set from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 24. Four wines from Beni di Batasiolo, a winery located in the Langhe area of the Piedmont, Italy, are to be accompanied by an authentic Italian small plate. Downtown Brew Festival coming Oct. 24: Motley Brews' Downtown Brew Festival is set to return with craft beer, celebrity chefs and live music from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. Beer lovers will have the opportunity to sample more than 200 local, regional and international brews from more than 60 breweries lining the grassy surroundings of the amphitheater. Culinary face-off: The Intuitive Forager Farmers Market "Chopped" Culinary Showdown is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at the Downtown Summerlin's Farmers Market, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive. Honey Salt plans Farm Table Dinner: The next event in the Farm Table Dinner Series at Honey Salt, 1031 S. Rampart Blvd., is planned for Oct. 26, showcasing seasonal favorites and comfort food. Station Casinos' Project Pink: Station Casinos is set to host Project Pink, a companywide initiative to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer, through Oct. 31. Proceeds raised will benefit the Southern Nevada affiliate of Susan G. Komen and American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. Restaurant events include: Pink Pastries at the Grand Cafes and Cafe Fiesta, with special desserts starting at $1.99; Round Up for Project Pink, in which guests dining at any Station Casinos-owned restaurant (cafes, steakhouses, buffets, oyster bars and Italian and Mexican outlets) as well as at any hotel check-in are welcome to round up their bill for Project Pink; Meals for a Cause served at Mexican restaurants in which $1 from every order of traditional fajitas with pink flour tortillas (chicken, steak and shrimp) and pink sopapillas will be donated. Stoney's reopening: Stoney's Rockin' Country recently reopened after renovations in Town Square Las Vegas, 6611 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Improvement include rustic accents to the bar and nightclub including a porch-inspired stage area, elevated VIP seating lined with various United States' license plates, semi-private booths, sawdust sprinkled on the floor and more. A 13-foot tall by 21-feet long American flag made of 2,256 beer cans created by Oliver Toki is on display behind the mechanical bull arena. Hours are 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Throughout the night, guests can enjoy $5 Guinness pints and live Irish music from The Crooked Jacks. Additionally, Ri Ra is planning a costume contest with prizes for the best dressed.

Food truck battle planned Thursdays: Local food trucks are set to roll into the Silver Sevens parking lot from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays in October for a food truck battle, offering a variety of savory and sweet street eats. Admission is free, and A-Play Club Card members can vote for their favorite food truck for the chance to win $500 in FreePlay. Nonmembers will be able to sign up for a free card at the event.
