Man’s body found in Henderson pool

A dead man was found in a public pool Thursday morning, the city of Henderson said.

First responders arrived at Wells Outdoor Swimming Pool, 1650 Price St., about a half mile from the intersection of Sunset Road and Boulder Highway, about 7 a.m. A pool employee discovered the man, said city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards.

He was declared dead on scene and no foul play is suspected, Richards said.

The pool has no security surveillance cameras, Richards said.

The pool is going through a “super-chlorinating disinfection and vacuuming process,” which includes the pool filters and deck. It will reopen Friday at 11 a.m., Richards said.

This is the first drowning in a Henderson public pool as far as staff knows, Richards said.

The man’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office when his next of kin is notified.
