Las Vegas Fire Department gets $6.2 million grant to open new station

The Las Vegas Fire Department received a $6.2 million federal grant to staff and supply Fire Station 108, which is expected to open in August.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency grant will pay salaries for two years for the firefighters at the station and pay for a fire engine and ambulance.

The department will receive $3.1 million each year for two years.

Fire station 108, on East Bonanza Road just east of Lamb Boulevard, has been under construction for the past year. It will service an area that previously had relied on the Clark County Fire Department for response.
