Does Dave Rice have the worst job in D-I basketball?
ESPN.com’s Myron Medcalf seems to think so. Medcalf made a list of college basketball’s “bad jobs,” and head coach of the Runnin’ Rebels is right at the top.
The list isn’t scientific — or even objective — by any means. While Medcalf points out that all D-I jobs are challenging, his list is meant to bring attention to the ones where the problems seem to outweigh the positives.
The toughest thing about coaching the Rebels? Sleepless nights, knowing that UNLV is the only high-major program that resides “in a place where the blackjack tables operate 24/7.” (We’re pretty sure Albuquerque’s meth labs don’t keep bankers’ hours, but UNM isn’t on the list.)
Other coaching jobs making the list are Clemson, Florida State, Marquette, Northwestern, Rutgers, Boston College and Minnesota.
