Teen struck by car in critical condition

A teenager is in critical condition after being struck by a car in east Las Vegas Tuesday morning, Las Vegas police said.

The 17-year-old boy was crossing Lamb Boulevard at Monroe Avenue about 6:30 a.m. when he was hit by a 2005 Saturn Ion traveling north on Lamb, police said.

The driver of the Saturn, 39-year-old David Mintzer, failed to yield the right of way to the teen, who was in the crosswalk, according to police. Mintzer remained at the scene of the crash.

The crash shut down Lamb in both directions, between Washington and Owens avenues while detectives investigated the scene. The road reopened by 11 a.m. Police said the crash is still under investigation.
