Bomb squads investigate another cannonball in Carson City

CARSON CITY — Another cannonball has been found in Carson City, this one at the city’s shooting range.

Sheriff Ken Furlong said bomb squads from Fallon Naval Air Station and nearby Douglas County were being sent to pick it up.

It’s the second cannonball in as many days reported in Nevada’s capital city.

On Monday, a Civil War-era cannonball was being sold at a garage sale but the owner called authorities after someone suggested it might be dangerous.

The bomb squad from the Naval station was called in to check it out and determine if it was safe.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that after news of that incident, someone called authorities to report the other cannonball at the city’s shooting range.
