Gay men: Texas bar kicked us out for dancing

VICTORIA, Texas — A gay couple says they were asked to leave a South Texas nightclub because they danced together to country music.

The Victoria Advocate reports Wednesday that a manager at the Cactus Canyon nightclub says the pair were asked to leave because they were disruptive. Robert Dillender says the club is obligated by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, which issues liquor licenses, to maintain the peace. The club is now reviewing how it interprets that policy.

But 21-year-old Justin Meyer says he and his partner were told Saturday night they had to leave because the club had a policy against two men dancing together to country music.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas says it is reaching out to the couple to help them battle discrimination.
