Pickup hits three pedestrians; all sent to UMC

A helicopter airlifted two people to University Medical Center’s trauma unit after they were hit by a pickup traveling east on Blue Diamond Road near Cimarron Road on Saturday night, police said.

Another person struck by the pickup and was transported to UMC by ambulance, according to Lt. Ken Romane with the Metropolitan Police Department.

The Nevada Highway Patrol was handling the accident and its fatal unit was on scene at 9 p.m., roughly 20 minutes after the accident occurred.

The victims’ conditions were not immediately known.

“We don’t know who’s at fault yet,” Romane said.

Part of Blue Diamond and Cimarron had to be shut down to accommodate the helicopter.
